Indonesia's first trial begins

With the support of communities and approval from regulators, Indonesia’s first field trial of the Eliminate Dengue method has begun in Yogyakarta.

Community members in Kronggahan and Nogotirto, in the Sleman district, have shown overwhelming support for a field trial in their area.

Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, Governor of Yogyakarta, also reaffirmed his support to the research last week as part of his commitment to developing healthy communities throughout the region. The aim of the field trial in Yogyakarta is to establish Wolbachia in the local mosquito population, which we expect will reduce the risk of local dengue transmission.

Eliminate Dengue Indonesia has received approval from the provincial government to conduct field trials in Yogyakarta and ethical clearance from the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).

We will continue to provide updates on the progress of our research throughout the trial.
