Bill Gates visits Indonesian research team

American entrepreneur and philanthropist Bill Gates visited the Eliminate Dengue project in Indonesia last month, to see the progress of the research first-hand.

Mr Gates met with our Indonesia research team at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta and toured one of the local field trial sites, where he spoke with community members about their experiences with dengue.

To read more about Mr Gates’ visit, see his Gates Notes blog.

Globally, the Eliminate Dengue research program is funded primarily by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health through the Grand Challenges in Global Health initiative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Eliminate Dengue Indonesia is funded solely by Yayasan Tahija (the Tahija Foundation), a non-profit organisation established in Jakarta in 1990 as a formal vehicle for the philanthropic initiatives of the Tahija family.
