Early results show promise for Vietnam trial
Our field trial on Tri Nguyen Island in Vietnam is progressing well, with early results showing that 39% of mosquitoes on the island carry the wMel strain of Wolbachia.
We began releasing wMel mosquitoes one month ago, and we are encouraged by this early result. We hope to see this percentage keep rising as we continue to monitor the local mosquito population.
As we obtain further results, we will begin to determine how well the wMel strain of Wolbachia is establishing in the local mosquito population. We will provide regular updates on the results to the Tri Nguyen Island community and via our website.
With ongoing community support, we plan to release wMel mosquitoes once a week for approximately three months.
